CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: The Crystal Exarch (G'raha Tia)
❥ Canon: Final Fantasy 14
❥ Canon Point: Post Shadowbringers
❥ Fandom OC Approval: n/a

❥ History:
- Born with mismatched eyes, one an unusual and striking color red. This trait is seen in his family once a generation, and after so many generations, the significance of the eye had been lost, and G'raha was shunned for it out of ignorance.
- Made his way to the city of Sharlayan where he would indulge in intensive study on his lineage. His studies led him to a place with the Students of Baldesion, an organization of scholars concerned with researching the various mysteries of Eorzea such as the Echo and the Rejoining.
- Through his contact with this group, he was later recruited by Cid Garlond alongside the Warrior of Light to help investigate the Crystal Tower. During the course of this, they meet with two Allagan clones who inform him that his eye is a mark of Allagan royalty.
- The clones realize they will need to entrust G'raha with the Crystal Tower. They each give G'raha their part of blood, turning his blue eye to match the other, and granting him control over the Tower. With it, he is also given memories inherited through the blood, and he understands the will of the Allagans is that the technology in the Tower should be sealed away until such a time as Eorzeans can understand it and not destroy themselves as the Allagans did.
- G'raha seals the Tower with himself inside to sleep until he is awakened and can guide future Eorzeans with his knowledge of the Tower's workings.
- He is awakened 200 years later well after the Scions and Warrior of Light have been killed by a chemical/aetheric weapon known as Black Rose, and war is waged everywhere as the world dies. Technology has advanced to meet the level of that within the Crystal Tower and a method is developed to send the Tower and G'raha to the source of the Calamity to stop it.
- Realizing this will all take longer than he will naturally live, G'raha makes himself one with the Tower to extend his life indefinitely. Part of his body crystalizes during the process.
- G'raha arrives on the source of the Eighth Umbral Calamity - the First reflection of the Source world - nearly a century ahead of schedule, just after the First has suffered and seen the end of the apocalyptic Flood. He gathers the survivors that he can and establishes the Crystarium as he works to bring the Warrior of Light (still alive in this time) to the First in order to stop the First from being completely consumed by the primordial Light that caused the Flood.
- G'raha is given the title Crystal Exarch and allows that to become who he is, to the people of the Crystarium, and the Warrior of Light, and the Scions, who he brings to the First on accident in an attempt to bring the Warrior alone.
- Having successfully hidden his identity from the Warrior of Light and all but one of the Scions, the Exarch enacts a plan to allow the Warrior to absorb the corrupted aether that threatens to destroy the First entirely. He moves to take that aether into himself to then leave the world with it alone and die, saving the First and the Warrior at the same time, but is foiled at the last moment and critically injured.
- The Exarch is kidnapped and tortured, but later escapes and emerges to summon champions from seven other worlds to aid the Warrior of Light in the final battle. After their victory, he returns with the Warrior and Scions to the Crystarium, and he is finally able to send the Warrior home to the Source.

❥ CRAU?: n/a

❥ Personality:
Once upon a time, when then Exarch was a young scholar with the Sons of Saint Coinach, a student of Baldesion, friends knew him best as eccentric, but a lover of knowledge and a dedicated bowman. When he didn't have his nose in ancient writings, he honed his skills with the bow and quiver, eager to unearth the mysteries of the past as much as he was to go on his next adventure. He was always willing to step forward and offer a hand where needed even if it meant risking his health and well being in the process as when he jumped at the chance to help the Warrior of Light clear a path into the Crystal Tower to learn its secrets, and then again when he dove into the World of Darkness to save their friends.

During the course of that adventure, hard truths were revealed to him about his heritage, and he knows now that he is the last living bearer of the Royal Eye, a unique and brilliant red hue to one eye (he is granted the same hue for his other during the course of this journey by two clones of Allagan royalty) and the blood of Allagan royalty. In essence, he is the only one who can control the Crystal Tower, a powerful structure that stores the energy of the sun as a massive solar panel, and technology that is far advanced for the world it exists within which has exterminated the ancient Allagan people who created it and twice nearly destroyed the present society that tried to harness that same technology.

Upon learning of his unique relation to this structure and what it could do to the people who sought to explore it, he opted to sacrifice himself to seal the Tower off from the world until such a time when advancements had been made that would equal those of what the Tower contained. Though it meant leaving behind the Warrior of Light and the people he had befriended, he sealed himself inside the Tower, to sleep indefinitely to guide future generations when the world was ready to accept what it had to offer.

But time changes everything and nothing, and the years spent in the nightmare that was the Source after the Eighth Umbral Calamity destroyed everything he had ever known, taking the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn with it, have tempered him from the energetic and excitable youth that he once was. Upon learning of a way to save his world using the energy within the Crystal Tower and technology developed by the Ironworks, he found a way to bridge space and time and traveled to the First before it was wiped out - the source of the Calamity - and set in motion a desperate plan to ensure his tragedy would never happen, though it meant he would be erased from existence. A step further to see his dreams and those of the ones who awoke him realized, he fused himself with the Tower's essence and exists now as an extension of it, wholly dependent upon its energy to maintain his powers and his very being.

What he found was a world nearly destroyed, consumed by the Flood. Those small areas of the planet not devoured by its touch were swamped by primordial Light, giving rise to creatures known as sin eaters that existed only to terrorize what little life remained. The century following his arrival, wherein he was granted his title of the Crystal Exarch as he helped band together those who would build what would become the thriving city of the Crystarium, further molded him into a respected and gentle leader. From his private chambers in the Tower, he keeps watch over his city and his people, but most especially the Warrior of Light - the one man who can save both the First and, by proxy, the Source. The observation isn't ideal, another necessity to ensure all goes according to plan to see that the Calamity never occurs, but a necessity it is, for he can only stray so far from the Crystal Tower to maintain his strength.

This does not stop him from wandering from the Tower's reach, as when he takes to the field to help defend Holminster Switch once it comes under attack alongside the Warrior of Light and the Scions, or when he journeys to Amh Araeng to see to the final preparations of the Talos's construction and later makes the ascent to the top of Mt. Gulg to take the last steps of his plot to absorb the corrupted aether from the Warrior of Light and send himself into the rift between worlds to die, thus saving the Warrior and Norvrandt.

To his people, he is polite and genial, and they speak of him as a loving grandfather and a pillar of their society in a world wrought by tragedy and hounded by monstrous creatures. Knowing that the truth of his existence would trouble the people of the First, as they carry on about their lives, ignorant of the fact that their world is but a reflection of his own, he keeps mum on his origins. He extends this to all but one of the Scions when he accidentally summons them to the First in his attempts to bring the Warrior of Light into the world across the barrier between their worlds, concerned that they may know who he is and in that, spare them from the pain of having to let go of a dear friend when the time comes, as he knows it will. He knows his story will end in his death when, after saving the First from the Light that continues to plague it, he knows the Warrior will be overwhelmed by that same Light. Regardless, his doors have ever been open to all, and he has allowed the Crystal Tower he calls home open to exploration in hopes that the scholars and scientists of the First can better help him to understand its past as well as provide for their future.

Through it all, the Exarch has carried the memory of those who were lost and friends left behind, good people he knows he will never see again. It is for that reason that he carries on, for their hopes and dreams. In their honor, he remains dedicated to his cause, going so far as to place everything he has on the table to see that the First will not fall and an Eighth Umbral Calamity never befall the Source, even his own life.

❥ Abilities:
The Exarch is described in the Trust system - a method of running through battle quests within Final Fantasy 14: Shadowbringers - as an "all-rounder." In the instance where he appears as an option to bring into battle at Holminster Switch, he is capable of filling the role of a tank, healer, or damage dealer as the player sees fit. As the tank, he can endure the brunt of the enemies' attacks while holding their attention as the other players deal their own damages to quickly end the battle. As a healer, he plays a supporting role with powerful curative spells, debuffs, buffs, and protections. While running as a damage dealer, his spells are equally powerful, casting devastating spells from a distance to a single target or multiple as needed.

While he is quite versatile on the field, his abilities do not end there. He is also capable of casting glamour magic to affect invisibility upon an individual, as when he hid the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud and Alisaie within the Ocular before his meeting with the Eulmoran emissary. His glamours can also render an exact mirror image of himself in his stead, as when he sent one to speak with Lord Vauthry when he suspected the man wished to do him harm during a meeting; as it turned out, he was right in those suspicions and spared himself a nasty bout of mind control.
